What season are you in?
- Do our roots go deep so no matter what season we are in we will still grow?
- Psalm 1 v 1-3 - "1 Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, 2 but whose delight is in the law of the LORD, and who meditates on his law day and night. 3 That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither - whatever they do prospers."
- If we are like this tree then no matter what season we are in we will be rooted in God and get nutrients from Him.
- We are all in different seasons. Some people see seasons a period of time in a certain place others see it as a cycle we go through regularly in our lives.
- Today is the day a 2 year season finishes. I am leaving the church I have helped to lead over the past two years and I am moving into a new role with Pais. Today is the Pais Graduation it will be a sad and yet celebratory occasion.
- I am stepping into leading our work in East Lancashire and helping lead youth in a new church.
- As I look back over the past two years I see many places in my life God has been at and in those around me.
- I thought I would pick one key passage which is still as applicable as ever before.
- Romans 5 v 1-5 - "1 Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, 2 through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we boast in the hope of the glory of God. 3 Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; 4 perseverance, character; and character, hope. 5 And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us."
- We are justified by our faith in Jesus and His grace which saves us.
- We can live in peace knowing where we are going and what God has called us to do on this earth.
- Stand in the hope and glory of God and all He has for us.
- When the trials and challenges come what is your response?
- Our response should be to persevere and endure by faith.
- This in turn builds our character.
- That increases our hope for salvation.
- Are your ready for what God has in this season and the next?
- I am honoured to have worked with such great leaders, to have mentored and discipled great young people and to have helped to grow and move a church forward.
- God's grace is sufficient and we do ALL things through Christ who strengthens us.
- Let’s dig our roots deep in God.
