The Seven Seals - Part 6

REVELATION 8 v 1-5
Do we make a sweet smell to God?
The seventh and final seal leads in to the seven trumpets and seven bowls. The seventh seal is the final judgement. The censer originated in Exodus 30 v 7-9, where Aaron used it to make a sweet aroma to God. People used it in the temple to worship God in the Old Testament. Does the life we live give off a fragment aroma to God? Or is He disgusted by some of the smells we produce because of our sin? God will never stop loving us, but he hates sin and the smell it creates.
  • In life people usually smell something before they see it.
  • How do all the seven seals affect how we live our lives?
  • Ephesians 5 v 1-2 - "1 Follow God’s example, therefore, as dearly loved children 2 and walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God."
  • This verse calls us to live in a way that imitates God.
  • This will greatly affect the way we do discipleship because we will allow others to see how we imitate God.
  • I don't believe we can imitate God just as an island; we need to do it as a church.
  • 1 Corinthians 14 v 26 - "What then shall we say, brothers and sisters? When you come together, each of you has a hymn, or a word of instruction, a revelation, a tongue or an interpretation. Everything must be done so that the church may be built up."
  • What is the aroma of our churches?
  • Is the aroma of the church pulling people in or pushing them away?
  • Jesus reputation preceded him. The reputation of the church for bad or good stuff precedes us.
  • The hot coals were out into the censer, hot coals symbolise purification.
  • Isaiah 6 v 6-7 - "6 Then one of the seraphim flew to me with a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with tongs from the altar. 7 With it he touched my mouth and said, “See, this has touched your lips; your guilt is taken away and your sin atoned for.”"
  • God purifies Isaiah ready for him to do his work as a prophet of God.
  • The coals in the censer show pure and true worship.
  • God can use us for anything we just have to willing to accept the rule, reign, realm, and royalty of God.
  • Let God purify us ready for the work at hand.
  • What aroma will you make?
